Multi-Tenant (rooming) Houses Framework came into effect on March 31, 2024

Multi-tenant house (MTH), commonly known as a rooming house, is defined as a building where four or more rooms are rented out to separate people. As of March 31, 2024, City of Toronto has set out new rules and regulations to monitor property standards for rooming house tenants. All Multi-tenant Houses operators or landlords are now required to obtain license from the city to legally operate rooming houses in Toronto.
